A safe circle where young women speak openly and belong again.
Komeza Peer Circle brings young women together, including young women living with HIV, to talk freely about health, support each other, and end the stigma that keeps people apart.
“Komeza” means keep going.
Vision and mission
Our vision
A community where every young woman, whatever her HIV status, lives openly, healthily and with dignity, as a full part of community life.
Our mission
To create a safe, confidential space where young women can talk honestly about HIV, health and well-being, support one another, and return to community life free of stigma.
How it started
In our community, some young girls living with HIV were isolating themselves and missing community activities because of fear and stigma. Nobody was talking about it.
UMULINGA G Jolly started a peer wellness group so they would have a place to talk, be heard and support each other. In September 2025, with the support of the Kanombe Sector office, which provided a meeting room, the group began meeting every week. By March 2026, 15 young women had taken part.
What we do
Weekly peer circle
Young women meet every week in the meeting room of the Kanombe Sector office (Kicukiro District) to share experiences and encourage each other.
Open talk about HIV and health
Honest conversations about HIV, staying healthy and living well, without judgement.
Mental well-being
Time and space to talk about stress, fear and feelings, and to support each other through them.
Ending stigma
Helping members who had withdrawn take part again in community activities, with confidence.

UMULINGA G Jolly
Jolly founded Komeza Peer Circle after finishing her studies in 2025. She is passionate about community health education and about ending the stigma around HIV, so that no young woman has to face it alone.
She plans to keep growing the circle and to bring this model of peer support to more communities across Rwanda.
